Mandela Day, 18th July, is more than just a day of celebrating Mandela’s legacy; it’s an opportunity to put aside day to day duties and give 67 minutes of your time to serve others and make a difference however small or big.
This year the BIB Team took part in their Barkers Bountiful Beanie Drive whilst sporting their own crazy, unique and colourful hats!
With the current icy winter weather, the 67 Beanies for 67 Minutes initiative called for donations of 67 Beanies, along with numerous other contributions such as food, clothing, books etc. for the less fortunate of Kwaggaspoort Reddingsdaad (Rescue Centre) in PTA.

The rescue centre seeks to assist the less fortunate with their temporal needs, such as a roof over their heads, food, clothing and other basic necessities. They provide a safe haven for 34 families as well as the elderly. Most have no possessions and are unemployed and the rescue centre gives them a chance to survive until they can become independent members of society. Each year Mandela Day and all that it encompasses inspires the BIB Team to continue making a difference. May we each keep Mandela’s generous, kindred spirit alive!
