Nelson Mandela spent more than 67 years serving his community, his country and the world – as a human rights lawyer, a prisoner of conscience and an international peacemaker.
To celebrate Mandela Day 2012, Barker Insurance Brokers started with a small step toward changing the world for the better. Our mission? To make as many sandwiches as possible within 67 minutes to feed the less fortunate.
Armed with sarmies, the BIB team joined forces for Mandela’s 94th birthday in a quest to do our 67 minutes of community service on 18 July. Due to the great response received, stations were set up and time slots allocated to put our sandwich-making skills to the test. Needless to say the moms were the most efficient!
Roger of My Soul Provider collected the sandwiches for distribution to various shelters.
“Let there be justice for all. Let there be peace for all. Let there be work, bread, water and salt for all. Let each know that for each the body, the mind and the soul have been freed to fulfil themselves.”
“Man's goodness is a flame that can be hidden but never extinguished”.
