BIB helps keep Dan Lombard’s wheels in motion

A valued BIB client, Jacques Lombard approached us in July this year with regards to his son Dan who had broken his neck during a rugby practice in 2008 and was left a C5 Quadriplegic. Dan, a huge rugby enthusiast, has not let his disability get in the way of his passion and continues to be actively involved in the game. His involvements and achievements in Rugby include Writer for BLOU Magazine, MWP Media, Game on Magazine; BA (Hons) Journalism – University of Pretoria; PBHS Rugby Coach; Blue Bulls BokSmart Ambassador; Found of Rugbyfromawheelchair and many many more.

One of Dan’s many battles, although wheelchair bound, was to stay mobile

Dan had this to say…

I did not have a very good start to 2015 as I was hospitalised for a severe pressure sore that required surgery. Just one of the many hazards I have to contend with since breaking my neck and severing my spinal column during a rugby practice at Pretoria Boys in 2008.

While in hospital I decided to write to Jacaranda FM's Good Morning Angels to ask for assistance in raising funds for a new adapted van. I took over the family Vito soon after my accident and it served me well. It was an old model and it was prone to breakdowns. After several years of plugging holes we eventually decided to scrap it as it was just costing too much. I was without transportation for two years and had to plan my life accordingly.

A few weeks after I left hospital I got a call from Jacaranda FM to inform me that I needed to be at the studios. The rest is history. Three weeks after the interview I went to pick up my brand new van. Barkers Insurance Brokers played a critical role in insuring the van and my heartfelt thanks goes out to a company my Dad has dealt with for many years.
